Beautiful by Eric Nunnally

I remember children's laughter
Noisy birds and bunches of green leaves swaying in the afternoon breeze
Seeing your face when you opened the door
The happiness in your eyes
The sun on my shoulders
And how good the air smelled when you came outside

I remember stopping for water
And watching you drink
Watching the water on your lips
The weight of your breasts in your shirt

I remember being ready to turn around and go back home
Walking our bikes to the backyard and
Washing up before getting something to eat from the kitchen
And after eating
Going upstairs to take a nap with the window open
All the sounds of summer coming in

I remember quietly undressing when we awoke
You closing the door and coming back to bed
Moving with you and
Sweating with you and
Being as hungry as you were

I remember loving to be with you
And that being beautiful.
